The Vistula starts as two streams on the slopes of Barania Góra in the Silesian Beskids and ends where a 19th-century canal cuts it straight into the Baltic. In between it passes Kraków, runs through a loess gorge, crosses Warsaw with a wild right bank and meets the sea past Toruń and Grudziądz.
Following the channel, the route is about 1,010 km. At an easy 2:30 per 500 m that is roughly 84 hours of rowing — a winter of training with a destination.

On the water vs. at home
On the water, the whole Vistula is a five-to-seven-week kayak expedition at 25–30 km a day. The first kilometres are a mountain stream you can’t paddle, there is a portage at the Włocławek dam, and the lower river is big water in a headwind.
At home, none of that applies — but every metre is still earned. Roowy counts real metres from your rower, with no multiplier for style.
